To say that I’ve been in this business a long time is a bit of an understatement. The first web design I’d ever done was approximately 17 years ago for a local church youth group. Since then I’ve developed hundreds of pages, with thousands of hours of hands-on interaction. My background is in Computer Information Services, but at a time when colleges & universities were handing out diplomas in that field like candy finding a job was exceptionally hard. After a period of time I went back to college and changed my major back to my first love: Fire & Emergency Services. I’d always known that I wanted to help people, I just didn’t know that it would be in the public service field versus the computer technology field.

Something kept drawing me back to the technology sector though. I’d continued to work on individual web design projects in my spare time until around 1998 when I was working for a division of the University of Kentucky as a network administrator. It was here that Corridor9 Design was formed as more of a side project than any true business venture. I’d had more than a few people inquire about having a website built and not having an ‘official’ sounding business name had put me at a disadvantage when competing with other major firms.

In 2000 I began working as a career Firefighter / EMT.  I’d thought that my technology days were behind me, but I was still actively engaged in building computers for individuals, troubleshooting problems, and the occasional website design. Corridor9 Design was still primarily a hobby for me, but as interest kept growing the need for me to jump in with both feet became more and more apparent.

With more than 15 years of research into business practices, hosting & design strategies, and server administration I finally took the plunge. On 01/01/2011 Corridor9 Design was officially launched with a multitude of existing clients. To this day I function on a face to face basis with each of my business clients and strive to provide the best possible solutions for their business needs.

MFD Payday Calculator main

MFD Payday Calculator

The MFD Payday Calculator is a simple tool to help MFD employees calculate the amount of base & gross pay they will receive on their next paychecks. This application takes into account the base rate of pay, both overtime 1 & overtime 2 rates, longevity, holidays, and callbacks.

The individual member has the ability to save their personal pay rates in a settings menu so those rates, along with the number of years on the job, is saved so they don’t need to be reentered the next time the application starts.

Currently, the application is setup so that the user much choose a radio button for the first, second or third payday of the month. This is necessary to properly factor the longevity & incentive pays into the equation. The default choice is the third pay as it will calculate the lowest amount that a member will receive.

Callback values are in hours so that the user can adequately calculate partial callbacks into their pay.

Future updates will include a database driven equation that will automatically calculate holidays & scheduled days based upon shift and date. Please email me if you have questions.
